RE: motor coach or truck and 5th wheel

With a fifth wheel you'll only have one vehicle to service. With a motorhome you'll more than likely pull a car which will also need service.Just a thought two vehicles more expense in servicing and fuel.

RE: Is this a good price (winterizing my 5er)

I blow my water system out with air and then put anti-freeze in the traps a gallon last two years.Kitchen trap, bathroom trap and alittle in the toilet. The only other thing I do is make sure there is no water left in the pump,I take one hose off and blow through the pump.

RE: Jayco Eagle Super Lite 31.5FBHS

I've owned several Jayco's and have found them to be a quality unit and a good bang for your buck.In the end it's always up to the individual good luck and happy camping.

RE: Jayco 2009 Designer 34RLQS.. Be Careful Dry Hitch Weight

If you think that the extra weight is a problem you might think about putting air bags under the rear of your truck.I did that with my last truck and a heavier hitch weight seemed to help.Good luck and just enjoy the the camping.

RE: Tripods. Yes? No.

I've been using a tri-pod for about ten years.Got one because my 1998 Keystone developed a crack in the outside wall lower forward corner below the bedroom slide. The repair folks said it was due to flex of the overhang while moving around the bedroom.Don't know if that's true or not,but got the old trailer repaired and used the tri-pod and didn't have any more cracking have since traded that trailer in back in 2002.

RE: tire inflation pressure

I run my Designer "G" rated tires at 100# all the time have never had a problem and gives just a little room for increase in PSI due to temps.

RE: New 5ver: Cardinal, Montana, Bighorn,Jayco Designer

We have owned Keystone,Carriage,Fleetwood, and Jayco. We just bought our second Designer last fall and have been very happy with it as well as our other Jayco we owned. Our feeling was we got alot for our money with the Jayco and have never had a major problem with either onr of them.My sugestion would be find the floor plan you like and start narrowing it down from there as most all Manufacturers have similar floor plans. The floor plan we have now is the same as our previous Carriage.Although the Carriage was heavier then this Jayco and with less weight tows alittle better. In the end it's a personnal choice.

RE: 2008 Ford diesel - low MPG?

Yes those numbers are correct and glad to see your dealer facing up to the fact that the 08"s do not get good MPG alot of that is due to the DPF installed to meet the emission standards.Even with those numbers It's still better than a diesel pusher and I feel I've got alittle more room in my fiver than in a MH.And as my DW says with a fiver you only have to maintain one engine, one tranny, and one rear end.Not having to pull a toad and maintain it also. With my F-450 with the 488 rearend I get Max 12.5 not pulling and 9-9.5 pulling.

RE: exterior replacement

Tim I've replaced the entire left side on my last trailer. It took about six months to replace the entire side,I had to pull the slides out take both the front and rear caps off.Removed the windows.I bought the fiberglass sandwitch board from the factory the big trick was getting it shipped as it was 9 feet tall and 36 feet long.Installed the side used a router to make the openings for the slides and windows put all new rubber seals for the slides and windows. One other thing to keep in mind I had to pull the rubber roof back enough to secure the side along the top then reinstall with new flashing and trim. It's a big job and you'll need alot of help to get it installed at first then after the side is installed you can do alot by yourself.

RE: For those towing with an F450

Wouldn't sell, trade or anything else for the 6.4. It dosen't get great MPG but then I bought it to tow and it will tow about anything made up to 40' long and under 25,000 lbs.If your worried about fuel mileagr this is not the truck for you,If you want a truck to pull with no effort this is the truck.

RE: Jayco 299RLS

Our Jayco is our second one and have always enjoyed them and have been trouble free for us.I have also owned a Keystone and a Carriage, but the Jayco's have by far been our favorite. Both our Jayco's have been Designers so haven't have a experience with your model.
